Wie is Zama-Zama Hope 4 U Foundation?

Zama -Zama is a small informal settlement (squatter camp) in Pretoria West, near Danville. The area is faced with challenges on basic access to water, electricity and sanitation. The South African residents are from different ethnicity and include residents members from other African countries such as Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Congo, and Ethiopia. The majority of the residents are unemployed, do not have higher education and are constantly surviving on part-time jobs; contractors and selling fruits and vegetables. Most of the men that work, work in other cities in South Africa and are hardly at home. Most of the men in this area often resort to substance abusive whether it is alcohol or smoking and tend to be very abusive towards the women and children.

The cycle of poverty is worsening as the children “inherit” the norms of the community. Our goal is to alleviate poverty and break the cycle of poverty at Zama-Zama. We as an NGO called Zama-Zama: Hope 4 U Foundation which assists the community and a joint venture with the church would ensure that the men and women are empowered, the children are developed into the right path and that community building is evident.
